Every Friday we share our favourite finds from the week…

  • After a busy and successful weekend at The BBC Good Food Festival, we can’t wait to get our hands on tickets to the Bakes and Cakes show, looking forward to seeing Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry work their magic.
  • For the helpless romantics…the met helicopter police caught this proposal on camera.
  • Love these painted floorboards, especially the painted rug…one day!
  • Can’t wait to DIY my collection of bottles and jars!
  • Can you believe it has been 10 years since the finale of friends…absolutely loved this video almost as much as I love Jimmy Kimmel.

Have a great weekend all!

BBC Good Food Festival

BBC Good Food Festival

We set up shop alongside many great stalls at the BBC Good Food Festival this weekend, held in the idyllic gardens of Hampton Court Palace. The band stand was put to good use with The Polkadots and The Riverside Brass Ensemble sounding out through the grounds, I still have the Jungle book favourite “I Wanna Be Like You” stuck in my head.

The weather was kind to us for the most part as crowds of people streamed through the gates to enjoy all that the festival had to offer, my personal favourite of the weekend was the chorizo sausage roll I had from Pig in the Middle and of course the gelato from Gelato Rialto.  My Niece and Nephew came down from Buckinghamshire  and had fun making a Welsh rarebit muffin at the children’s cooking class.   After filling their bellies with all sorts from Ice cream to Churros we thought it would be  a good idea to put them to work and had them handing out leaflets to passers-by (great marketing strategy I thought).

Tiana-+-Wellies
In true bank holiday fashion, Monday was a complete washout! We were pleasantly surprised to see that this didn’t put people off and most came armed with brollies, wellies and waterproofs…. Some however had either failed to check the weather report or were optimistic that the weather-man had got it wrong! Thankfully this didn’t dampen any spirits and everyone seemed to make the most of the day out, especially the children who couldn’t resist jumping into giant puddles.

Overall the festival was a great success! Thank you to the organisers and stall holders for pulling off a pretty amazing weekend.      We can now announce our weekend competition winner, chosen by our little helper Tiana…
Congratulations to EMILY CLEMENTS on winning the fabulous collection of goodies from our shop!

Every Friday we share our favourite finds from the week…

  • Summer isn’t over yet…well at least it feels as though it isn’t when you see this brightly coloured blog feature about the very talented Emily Blincoe from iwantthat.co.za .
  • I had a giggle at this article about a little town in Hampshire that woke up and their town had been  ‘craft bombed’, loved the ‘mouse on the town clock’ idea!
  • What you should really be doing this weekend is coming to see our shop at  the BBC Good Food Festival, but if you’re looking for other options…have a look at this article, loads of great things to do this Bank holiday weekend.
  • Carlo Moretti is an artisan from Murano, Italy, Designboom visit him to explore his glassblowing techniques…Fantastic!

Before I check out for the weekend, if you want to see our latest collection (not yet in shop), grab your tickets for BBC Good Food Festival at Hampton Court Palace.

Meet the Fabulous Sharon Boonzaier

Meet the Fabulous Sharon Boonzaier

“My artwork celebrates indigenous natural beauty while encouraging people to take action towards protecting it. This range embodies my passion for art that’s inspired by endangered wildlife and conservation”.

Sharon grew up in a home filled with artwork and sculptures, with her mom as her first art teacher and creative inspiration she has been making things since she can remember. Sharon first fell in love with painting in oils: “The challenge is to make the buttery texture of oil paint behave and move like the volatile nature of ink…that is where the magic occurs”. The different shades and textures from the seas surrounding Cape Town are her main inspiration; the movement entrapped in her artwork is a reflection of this endless source of creativity.

Sharon was inspired to create her own pieces after working in the advertising and film industry and having to manufacture weird and wonderful designs in the course of her job. That was six years ago and so Sharon B Design was born.  She decided to create a variety of products from her original artworks,  all meticulously hand painted/drawn and then transferred onto heat tolerant parchment to create lampshades and tea light shades.

It’s no secret that Sharon has a passion for wildlife and it shows in her Lifeforce Rhino range. Sharon is part of a group of artists, photographers, designers and film-makers who share the same passion, after realising that the Rhino is nearing complete extinction and deciding to work together to raise awareness. A percentage of the Rhino artwork is donated to the Endangered Wildlife Trust and although the funds raised would hardly “touch sides”, every penny counts!

Sharon’s talents and passions are envious and definitely make me want to get out there and make a change, but for now I am going to save up for a gorgeous lampshade to bring a bit of Africa into my home. Use this code: SHARONB15 for 15% off all purchases in our shop, valid until 30 September.
